Casavecchia

Casavecchia is a rare red grape variety grown in Campania. It is used mainly in the Casavecchia di Pontelatone DOC. Some producers such as Alois choose to age it in wood before release.

Casavecchia (100%)
“This is very exciting for fans of volcanic terroir influenced wines. A lively nose of fresh cherry and violets with some nuanced raspberry and orange peel. Mineral overtones. A very vibrant palate loaded with tart but concentrated forest fruits and prominent acidity sets this up for plenty of years to come. Intriguing wine from an unusual grape variety. Finished with an attractive note of sour cherry.”
92 Paul Caputo
