Located in Galicia in the north west of Spain, the Ribeiro DO is home to interesting wines from the Treixadura grape. Around 10% of Ribeiro wines are red, often made from Mencia.
Antonio Cajide produces highly rated Ribeiro whites from local varieties. Known best for ‘1040 Sameirás’ that blends Treixadura, Albariño, Godello and Lado.
Bodegas El Paraguas is a joint project garage winery in Galicia by wine journalist Marcial Pita, and award-winning fourth generation oenologist Felicísimo Pereira. With a focus on the Treixadura grape on high elevation slopes in Ribeiro, the wines have drawn comparisons with Burgundy for their depth and mineral characteristics.
