Robertson is one of the principal districts within the Breede River Valley of the Wine of Origin system. Vineyards are concentrated along the Breede River where irrigation supports grape growing in an otherwise warm and dry landscape. The district is particularly known for limestone rich soils that favour varieties such as Chardonnay and have helped establish Robertson as an important centre for Cap Classique production.
