Elgin is a cool climate district within the Cape South Coast of the Wine of Origin system. Located on an elevated plateau just inland from the ocean, the area benefits from significant maritime influence and lower average temperatures than much of the Western Cape. Elgin is particularly known for precise, high acid wines from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc.
