Glera is a white Italian grape variety used in the production of Prosecco wines. It is perhaps best suited to the sedimentary soils that characterise large areas of the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene appellation. An affinity with water retaining, mineral rich marl not only increases fruit and floral notes, but also tends to increase the persistence of the wines. There is a growing focus on old vine Glera, single vineyard expressions and its relationship with lees contact.

“The Extra Dry style brings out the hints of tropical fruit and gives juiciness to the palate which has the solid structure typical of the Rive and a ripe fruit finish.”
“To make the point that Prosecco can evolve splendidly, this 2016 combines mature aromas of tropical fruit, incense, juniper, liquorice and wet flint with impeccable freshness and great mouth feel.”
“Slightly restrained nose of high vineyard wines, with notes of heather and lemon rind, white fruit on the palate and a fresh, bone dry finish of notable intensity.”
“A little restrained and closed on the nose at first. With time, it becomes pretty, and notably floral. The palate is full, with plump loads of stone fruit. Gentle complexity and intriguing sapidity. Some sweetness on the finish. Tasted before release.”
“The fresh, complex nose and light, crisp, bone dry palate of a wine from high vineyards and stony soils. Great finesse and exemplary terroir character.”
“From a little exploited Rive of great character. Understated herby on the nose, but intense flavoursome palate with classic pear and almonds. Great food wine.”

“A great vintage of Merotto's top selection, with classic dark blossom on the nose and a lively white fruit and citrus palate with perfectly integrated perlage.”
