Kirchberg de Barr is a south to southeast-facing Grand Cru vineyard located above the town of Barr in northern Alsace, with marl-limestone soils that retain water and regulate ripening. The site is best known for Riesling, which here combines firm acidity, citrus and stone fruit aromatics, and a saline mineral backbone. Wines from Kirchberg de Barr are structured and ageworthy, often showing restraint and clarity in youth before developing layered complexity with time.
