Facetus is an interesting expression of Falanghina Beneventana produced with a view to creating a rich, full-bodied wine that can age for many years. It is produced from fruit grown around the town of Torrecuso, close to Taburno. Recent vintages of the wine are labelled as Falanghina del Sannio DOC with a reference to the Taburno subzone, but from 2010 and prior the wine is labelled as the now defunct Taburno DOC. The wine generally sees a 20% portion fermented in new barrique and matured for six months in oak. It also contains around 10% dried grapes. For this reason, it carries the ‘late harvest’ or ‘vendemmia tardiva’ classification.
