Côtes du Roussillon AOC

Located close to the Spanish border and the French town of Perpignan, the Côtes du Roussillon appellation incorporates wines made across 32 districts in the department of Pyrénées-Orientales, Around 80% of the production is allocated to red wine, where varieties such as Grenache, Syrah, Carignan Noir and Mourvèdre dominate. An AOC since 1977, it covers 1,600 hectares of varied terrain, but most notably granite and schist to the northwest, red calcareous soils near Corbières, and stony terraces in the south of the appellation.
