York Mountain was given AVA status in 1984 and is one of San Luis Obispo's four AVA. York Mountain's viticultural history dates back to the late 1800s when British settlers started to plant vines. Today the area is known for some premium wines from Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir.
