Cabernet Franc is one of the world’s most planted red wine grape varieties. Primarily known as a constituent in the blends of Bordeaux, it can also be vinified as a varietal, producing light to medium bodied wines with ripe berry aromas.

There are some outstanding Cabernet Franc wines to be found all over the world. My favourite expressions tend to be the simple village wines from the Loire Valley, notably from Chinon and Saumur-Champigny.
