About Thummerer Cellar

By Paul Caputo

The Thummerer family wine business began in 1984 when with the first vintage obtained from a large one hundred hectare plot split between 80% black grapes and 20% white. Located in the small village of Noszvaj, twelve kilometres from the centre of Eger, the Thummerer family wine cellar is was carved out by hand into the area’s volcanic tufa rock. Today, this former manor house covers 2,000 square metres and naturally provides the ideal conditions for the maturation of wine.
