Fattoria le Pupille is one of the leading lights of Morellino di Scansano. Owned by Elisabetta Geppetti and family, this cult Tuscan producer has made outstanding wines for the last three decades.
Elisabetta Geppetti is a bit of a star in western Tuscany. It was testament to her reputation as a wine maker and a business owner that when the Morellino di Scansano consortium was formed in 1992 she was made its first president.
In recent years the estate has achieved almost cult status with a string of top scores from publications such as Wine Spectator, yet the first bottles from Fattoria le Pupille date back to the 1970s.
The Poggio Valente single vineyard in Scansano is one of the leading lights of the appellation. Facing south east, 14 hectares at 280 meters are planted with Sangiovese and Merlot in sandy rich soils.
